Twas the night before Christmas

Weihnachten im August?! Jaaaa, denn wenn etwas bis dahin fertig werden soll, dann muss ich so früh anfangen. :-))) Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich diesen tollen BOM "Twas the night before Christmas" von Helen Stubbings gesehen und war spontan davon begeistert.
Hier sind die ersten fertigen, gestickten Blöcke:

Die erste Runde

Heute hatte ich mal so richtig Zeit zum Nähen. Darum habe ich die erste Runde aus 28 Sternen auch noch umzu genäht. Nein, ich habe keine Nachtschicht eingelegt, die Sterne waren schon fertig, bevor ich die Ecken an das Mittelquadrat genäht habe. Die Blöcke für die Runde mussten nur noch zusammengesetzt werden.

Nachdem ich 32 dieser Rautensterne mit der Maschine genäht habe fürchte ich keine Y-Nähte mehr. :-))

Today was a sewing-day for me, after the centerblock I made the first round out of 28 stars. No, I didn't do a night shift, the stars were ready done before I sewed the corners to the centersquare. I only had to piece the blocks for the borders.
After piecing 32 diamondstars with my sewingmachine I'm no longer afraid of y-seams. :-))

Die Mitte ist fertig

Das Mittelteil der Replica des antiken Quilts ist nun fertig mit den Ecken und den applizierten Sternen. Als nächstes folgt ein schmaler Zwischenstreifen, dann kommt die erste Runde, die aus 28 dieser schönen Rautensterne besteht.
The center of the antique quilt-replica is ready done with the corners and the appliqued stars. Next step will be a small sashing around the middle and then the first round made of 28 pieced diamond-stars.

Auf zur nächsten Runde

Für die Dreiecke um den Mittelblock brauche ich ein paar von diesen Sternen, weitere werden für die erste Runde umzu benötigt. Insgesamt muss ich 32 Stück nähen - puuuuh! Das hier sind die ersten zehn:
For the triangles around the centerblock I need some of this stars, more are used for the first round. Altogether there will be 32 stars - puuuuh! Here is a picture of my first ten.

Antik Quilt Club

Im Juni fand ich auf Guute's Blog einen schönen antiken Quilt, den sie mit Interessierten zusammen nähen möchte. Als Liebhaberin von Reprostoffen und antiken Quilts konnte ich nicht nein sagen. :-)) Die Anmeldung zu dieser Gruppe ist allerdings schon beendet.
Hier ist mein erstes Teil, das Mittelstück, es ist aus 1 1/4" Quadraten (Fertigmaß) genäht.

In June I found a beautiful antique quilt at Guute's blog, which wants to sew with others. As a great lover of repro-fabrics and antique quilts I couldn't say no. :-)) By this time the subscription to the group is closed. This is the first part, the center, my squares are 1 1/4" ready done.

Zwei kleine Quilts fertig

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich mit dem Quilten dieses Maxi-Miniquilt begonnen, nun ist er fertig. Okay, mini sind wohl nur die kleinen Quadrate mit ihrem Fertigmaß von 1/2". Der Quilt selber misst 20 3/4" x 24 1/2". Gesehen habe ich ihn auf Lucy's Blog und fand die Idee klasse, auf diese Weise selbst 1" Scraps zu verarbeiten. Die kleinen Fourpatches habe ich nach der Leaders & Enders Methode von Bonnie Hunter genäht.
Some time ago I started quilting this maxi-miniquilt. Okay, just the little squares are mini with 1/2", the quilt measures 20 3/4" x 24 1/2". I saw this quilt at Lucy's blog and I thought, that it is a good idea to work up 1" scraps. I sewed the small fourpatches in the Leaders & Enders Methode of Bonnie Hunter.

Auch der "Scrappy Houses" Miniquilt ist fertig, er misst 14 3/4" x 19 1/2".

Ich glaube, das waren jetzt so ziemlich die letzten Reste von meinem "Flying Fancy", es wird Zeit, neue Scraps zu produzieren. Doch davon die Tage mehr.

I think, the leftovers from my "Flying Fancy" are nearly used up, time to produce some new. But more of this in the next days.

Crazy Block

In unserer Quiltgruppe haben wir beschlossen, für eine liebe Quiltfreundin zum Geburtstag Crazyblöcke zu nähen und zu besticken, das Thema lautet "Unter Wasser". Das ist mein erster Versuch in der Crazy-Technik und ich muss sagen, es hat mir viel Spaß gemacht!
Da ich weiss, dass ich gut gelungene Blöcke gerne selber behalte, habe ich gleich zwei gemacht, dann kann einer davon bei uns zuhause bleiben.

A member of our quiltgroup is going to celebrate her birthday soon and we decided to make some crazy quilting blocks for her. She loves blue and green fabrics, so the theme is "Under Water World".
This is my first crazy-block, and I have to say, it was a great fun to make it. Because I know that I surely want to keep this nice crazy to myself, I made two nearly same blocks, so one can stay at our home.
