Flying Fancy Quilt

Approximately one year ago I got the Australian Patchwork&Quilting Magazin 16/3. Looking first time through the pages, my eyes got caught on a quilt named „Flying Fancy “. It was love at first sight, I like the Flying Geese pattern, antique Quilts and Civil War Reproductionfabrics.
The first step was selecting the best fitting fabrics together, I took a deep gripe into my DJ-fabrics-collection.

I had a lot of fun sewing the twelve large blocks, also selecting the fabrics for the Flying Geese intermediate strips: if there wasn’t enough of one fabric – it doesn’t matter - take something similar to it, or something completely different.

The Top was relatively quick finished. Everything is quilted by hand, now there’s just the binding missing and fine sunny weather to take a good picture of my „Flying Fancy“. I show that later

It is just beautiful, you did a great job with the fabric selection..I am very inspired to finish mine now that I see yours done.
this quilt was published with the pattern in the QNM in the USA a few years ago and I knew I had to make it
I tracked down the booklet with the original antique quilt in it and that is what I have been using for my guidelines.
I really like how you quilted it too
Yes mine will be hand quilted too
great attitude for selecting the fabrics...Kathie

I saw your comment on Kathie's blog and had to come see your Flying Fancy. It is so lovely!! I love your fabric choices. The picture with the top pieced is just beautiful until I see the next picture with the handquilting and I hardly know what to say - its perfect!

How beautiful! you are putting so much lovely quilting in this quilt. I wonder what batting you like to use?
