Häuschen genäht

Nachdem mich der erste Versuch eines der kleinen Häuschen aus Scraps zu nähen nicht so richtig überzeugen konnte, habe ich heute einen zweiten Anlauf genommen und bin mit dem Ergebnis ganz zufrieden.

Ich werde die Häuschen halb und halb nähen: Den Tür-Fenster-Teil und den Schornstein-Himmel-Schornstein-Teil mit der Maschine zusammennähen, dann von Hand das Dreieck an das Dach nähen, anschließend wird das Schornstein-Teil auch von Hand an das Dach genäht.

Das Dachteil kommt mit der Maschine an das Haus-Teil, danach wieder von Hand die restlichen Himmel-Teile dran.

Die Nahtzugaben werden nach Bedarf getrimmt - das wahrscheinliche Quilting habe ich mir schon überlegt -, alles ist passend und sieht gut aus. Ab übermorgen dürfen ja die ersten Häuser gezeigt werden, oh, ich bin echt sooo gespannt!


My first attempt to sew one of these small houses from Jeanneke was not so satisfying. Now I have made a second start an I am happy about the result.

I will sew this houses half and half. The door-window-parts and the chimney-heaven-chimney-part will be sewn by machine. The triangle and the roof will be done together by hand, as well as the chimney-part to the roof.

The whole roof-part again is sewn by machine to the building, the last two pieces from heaven will be sewn by hand again.
I trim the seam allowance where it is necessary, this little houses are similar in doing Dear Jane blocks.

Only two days until we can show and watch different small houses on a lot of blogs (I hope so!), oh, I am so curious.

Einen Quilt in rot und weiß zu nähen habe ich auf meiner To-Do Liste, mal schauen, ob ich auch die Zeit für dieses interessant klingende Projekt finde.

Building Houses

Zwar habe ich reichlich angefangene Projekte, doch als ich bei Jeanneke die kleinen Häuschen gefunden habe, konnte ich nicht widerstehen (näheres dazu auf ihrem Blog).
Ich liebe Häuserblocks und habe mich bei ihr für dieses Projekt angemeldet.

Das erste Häuschen habe ich heute probegenäht, ich muss gestehen, es war nicht so einfach. Die Zuschneidemaße sind alle in irgendwelchen krausen 1/8" Angaben. Obwohl ich durch mein Handnähprojekt Dear Jane durchaus an kleine Teile gewöhnt bin, habe bei Nähen der schmalen Streifen mit der Maschine echt Schwierigkeiten gehabt. Aber mit ein bisschen ziehen und bügeln passen die Maße, das zweite Häuschen wird bestimmt schon einfacher zu nähen sein.

I love houseblocks and so I have signed in for her project.

Today I have sewn my first house to try out, I must confess it was not so easy. The measurement of the small pieces are in some frizzy 1/8". Although I am used to handsew small parts like in my Dear Jane, I had a little problem to piece the narrow stripes with the machine. But with a little bit stretching and ironing the measure fits, certainly the second small house will be sewn more easy.

Resteverwertung

Endlich ist mal wieder ein Quilttop fertig geworden! Die kleinen Quadrate in den Blöcken sind aus 1" Quadraten genäht. Die fertigen Blöcke sind 4 1/2" groß, das ganze Top mißt 27" x 32".
Im engeren Sinne ist es keine Miniquilt, aber da er aus so kleinen Teilen genäht ist, fällt er bei mir unter die Minis. Das Quilten muss allerdings noch ein bisschen warten, da noch andere Projekte in Arbeit sind.


Again a quilttop is finished! I used up my 1" squares for the small four-patches, so a block measures 4 1/2" and the hole top has 27" x 32". It's not really a miniquilt, but the pieces are so small that I say it is a mini. Now it can last a while until I put the quilting on it. I have some different projects to work on first.

Gemeinschaftsprojekt Advent

Nach unserem Patchwork-Treffen kann ich heute zeigen, wie unterschiedlich das selbe Muster auf verschiedene Weise umgesetzt wirkt. Es sind noch nicht alle ganz fertig, aber für einen guten Eindruck ist das schon Foto geeignet. Meins ist übrigens der kleine.


After our monthly patchwork meeting I can show you now how different the same pattern made by individuell preferences looks. Not all are really finished, but the foto gives a good impression. The small one is mine, I reduced the size.

Weihnachten steht vor der Tür

Nach einer kleinen Auszeit melde ich mich wieder zurück. Im letzten halben Jahr habe ich nicht viel genäht, doch da Weihnachten vor der Tür steht habe ich für meine Eltern ein kleines Wandbild oder eine Tischdeckchen gemacht.
In unserer Quiltgruppe haben fünf Frauen das gleiche Muster genäht und gestickt, jede in ihrer persönlichen Stoff- und Farbwahl. Vielleicht darf ich bei unserem nächsten Treffen ein Foto der Ergebnisse machen.

After a small time out I report back again. During the last half year I have not sewn a lot, however because Christmas stands before the door I have made a small wallhanging or a tablerunner for my parents .
Some quilter from my lokal quiltgroup used the same pattern, but everyone sewed and stitched in her favorite colours and fabrics, perhaps they allow me to take a picture on our next meeting.

Hier ist Block 13 "Little Blue Basket". Natürlich musste ich dafür blaue Stoffe verwenden.

Heute ist Block 14 "Fox and Geese" fertig geworden.

Scrappy Stripes Quilt

Nachdem sich bei mir jede Menge 6" x 6" Scraps aus diversen Swaps angesammelt haben, wollte den Haufen mal ein bisschen reduzieren.
Dafür habe ich aus den Quadraten 1 3/8" breite Streifen geschnitten und jeweils sechs davon zusammengenäht. Die Blockbreite habe ich nach dem Nähen entsprechend der Höhe von 5 3/4" begradigt.
Das fertige Top ist ca. 60" x 82" (1,50 x 2,00m) groß.
Allerdings hat sich ein kleiner Fehler eingeschlichen: ich hatte versucht zu vermeiden, dass die gleichen Stoffe aneinander stoßen. Leider ist es mir nicht ganz gelungen, siehe Foto. Aber ... weil ich damit nicht leben konnte, habe ich den verkehrten Block nocheinmal rausgetrennt und gedreht richtig wieder eingesetzt. Neue Fotos davon zeige ich ein anderes Mal.

I have collected a lot of scraps from diverse swaps. To reduce my stash I used up some of them. The squares are cut in 1 3/8" stripes and six of them are put together for one block. The unfinished block ist 5 3/4".
The top measures ca. 60" x 82".
I've made al little mistake, I tried to avoid that the same fabrics meet. But after sewing the top together I found one place. But I could not live with that ... I ripped off the wrong sitting block, turned it and now I'm happy. New photos will follow later.

Der 8. Block ist da

Der achte Block des Civil War Samplers war schnell zu nähen, wer mehr Fotos von CW-Blöcken sehen möchte kann hier gucken.

Der 7. Block ist fertig

Der siebte Block des Civil War Samplers ist ein Log Cabin. Barbara Brackman hat ihn mit zwei Runden Streifen um die Mitte genäht, mir gefällt er mit drei Runden besser.
The seventh block of the Civil War sampler from Barbara Brackman is a log cabin. Barbara made it with two rounds of stripes, I'm more pleased with tree rounds around the center.

Es ist einer meine Lieblingsblöcke, mit anderer Farbverteilung nähe ich den aus meinen Leaders&Enders und in nur 4 1/2". Bislang habe ich zwölf Blöcke fertig genäht, es werden weitere folgen.

The 6th block of Barbara Brackmans Civil War Project is finished. I like this pattern very much. You can see my 4 1/2" blocks with an other color distribution. They are made from leaders and enders, now I've sewn twelve blocks and some more will follow.

Barbara Brackman veröffentlicht jeden Samstag auf ihrem Blog einen Civil War Block mit Quiltbeispielen und historischen Informationen.

7 auf einen Streich

Dieser Tischläufer als Resteverwertung ist aus 1" Streifen maschinengenäht und handgequiltet. Da es jeweils sieben Streifen mit einem kleinen Quadrat in der Mitte sind, fiel mir spontan der Name "7 auf einen Streich" ein.

This tablerunner uses up a lot of 1" stripes, it is machinesewn and handquilted. It is named "7 at one blow" because of the seven stripes with the tiny square in the middle.

Crazy Geburtstagsblöcke

Diese Crazyblöcke habe ich im vergangenen Jahr für meine Geburtstagsgruppenmitglieder genäht und bestickt.

Lange Zeit habe ich hier nichts mehr veröffentlicht und auch wenig Neues gewerkelt. Aber das soll sich demnächt ändern, zumindest ein paar Fotos meiner Fortschritte werde ich Euch zeigen.

Haven't been here for a long time and not much new products made. But at least I'll show you a few photos of my progress.
